American Legion Auxiliary members are the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of the American Legion. Some of us are veterans ourselves. Eligibility is granted to members who are directly related to Veterans or Military personnel within two degrees of consanguinity and their heroes, either living or deceased, become their WHY or reason to serve others.
They take great pride in serving Veterans, our military & families, and the communities. Many members spend countless hours volunteering under the ALA VAVS program in nursing or Veterans homes; at schools instilling patriotism in our youth teaching flag etiquette as part of the Americanism and Children & Youth programs or volunteering at their community homeless shelter and food banks or soup kitchens to help care for the less fortunate working the ALA’s Community Service Program.
Many volunteer countless hours at their American Legion Post homes working weekly bingo games, assisting with celebrations of life
for members who have gone on to Post everlasting, or participating in Memorial & Veterans Day ceremonies to honor both our fallen Veterans
and those who served for our freedom. The hours reported from these activities make the American Legion Auxiliary one of the largest veteran’s support organizations.
ALA members live by the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary volunteering “In the Spirit of Service, Not Self. Volunteers do not receive monetary compensation and pay dues to serve, however, many have said the feeling they get making a Veteran smile is priceless! We’d love for you to be part of our mission outreach; won’t you join us?
